The Covid-19 pandemic had an enormous impact on our community and resulted in a massive pivot to accommodate the needs of businesses, merchants, and residents. Adaptation was at the heart of this effort, which inspired our Covid Adaptation category. The winner, Taste of Rome, is one of Sausalito’s oldest and most popular restaurants for Sausalitans and tourists alike. Guests are invited to unwind on the open-air indoor or outdoor dining areas as they enjoy authentic, locally-produced Italian cuisine and sip on delicious coffee. In order to accommodate the influx of customers, the proprietors expanded their outdoor dining area by building an open-spaced shaded structure that is surrounded by a lovely array of drought-resistant potted plants.
