Updates on past gardening events:

Our Green Thumbs and Adopt-a-Park neighborhood volunteers recently came together to weed the Post Office area and to prune, weed, and plant more native California plants in Langendorf Park.

Post Office:

On April 6th, over 15 Green Thumbs volunteers gathered to clean up the planting beds, which were overrun with weeds. They took special care not to disturb the newly sprouting California poppies that had been seeded by volunteers in February. Given that these planting beds lack irrigation, they are filled with drought-tolerant succulents and poppies. A big thank you to Scriba, our dedicated Green Thumbs leader, for orchestrating this event. More pictures below.

Langendorf Park:

On April 20th, nearly 20 Adopt-a-Park neighbors and Green Thumbs volunteers came together to weed, clear ivy and scotch broom, and plant more California natives in Langendorf Park. The objective is to transform the planted area of the park into a pollinator garden that’s beneficial to our birds, bees, and insects. The group received valuable guidance on plant propagation and proper planting techniques from Oscar Lucario, our esteemed Sausalito Parks and Recreation landscape designer and land manager. The team managed to fill over 21 bags with compost. Special thanks to Adopt-a-Park leader and Sausalito Beautiful Board member, Kenneth Fong, for coordinating this gardening event and opening up his home during and after the event for bathroom breaks, refreshments and community.
