Green Thumbs scheduled August 21
Save the date for Saturday, August 21 when Green Thumbs volunteers roll up their sleeves, don their gardening gloves, and beautify our city!
Words from our new President
Carolyn Revelle reflects on how beauty shaped who she is, what she values, and why she has devoted the past six years to Sausalito Beautiful.
Don’t forget to compost!
Our friends on the Sustainability Commission remind us to help fight climate change by putting all food scraps in the green bin along with yard waste. Then add finished compost into your garden to add nutrients and help retain moisture.
During drought, prioritize Trees
There are many ways to reduce water usage both inside and outside our homes. In your garden, you should prioritize irrigation of your trees and vegetables, because grasses and smaller plants will either survive or be easy to replace.
USPS thanks Green Thumbs!
In June, Sausalito Beautiful’s Green Thumbs volunteers swooped in to clean up at the Sausalito Post Office. The team even included two volunteers from Sioux Falls, South Dakota whose father founded Sioux Falls Beautiful.

Economic Value of Urban Trees
Sausalito faces many competing funding priorities. Urban trees represent a low-cost policy intervention that provides significant economic benefits, in addition to the widely-recognized environmental and human health benefits.
