On February 22nd, members of Sausalito Beautiful gathered at MLK Park to recognize the generosity of Terry Causey, a Sausalito resident whose $10,000 donation helped fund the MLK tree campaign. Sausalito Beautiful launched this tree campaign a few years ago to raise money to buy trees for MLK Park.
Sausalito Beautiful board member, Carolyn Revelle, MLK Adopt-a-Park co-leader, Gail Schell, and Sausalito Beautiful founder, Shelby Van Meter, met with Terry to show him the bench dedicated in his honor. Joining them were Akama’i and Le’a, Terry’s two dogs, who enjoyed the peaceful setting as much as their owner. Terry was thrilled with the bench and deeply appreciates Sausalito Beautiful’s work in the community.
Beyond the bench, a thoughtfully designed landscape has taken shape around it. A low stone border, soon to be filled with succulents, encircles the area, along with a ring of ceanothus, a pollinator garden, and a fragrance garden. These plantings, maintained by Adopt-a-Park volunteers, create a welcoming and vibrant green space for all to enjoy.
Terry’s generous support is just one example of how community members can make a lasting impact on Sausalito’s public spaces. Thanks to him—and the dedicated volunteers who care for MLK Park—this area continues to flourish, providing beauty, shade, and habitat for local wildlife.
