Thank you to our Green Thumbs volunteers who do hands-on beautification work around the community for all the projects they’ve completed over the last four months. As Benjamin Franklin said: “The good we can do together surpasses the good we can do alone.” Here’s a short report on everything we’ve done:
July – MLK Park
On July 9th, 13 Green Thumbs volunteers came together at MLK Park. They weeded and cleared materials from around the tree trunk bases, checked the irrigation inline drip surrounding the trees, and mulched 40 trees.
June – Johnson Street
On June 11th, five volunteers weeded, added compost, and mulched the Johnson Street trees. It was a hot day, and there were only 5 volunteers. We got it done!
May – Sausalito Post Office
In May, 14 volunteers cleaned up and weeded the landscaping at the Sausalito Post Office. Tom Anderson and Carolyn were especially helpful! We announced the Green Thumbs awards winners based on last year’s attendance. It was a three-way tie! The winners were Lise Ciolino, David Suto (two-time winner) and Jenny Rynders
April – Marin City School District
In April, six volunteers met at the Marin City School District’s Phillips Street Garden Campus to clean up after the late spring rains, planted veggies, and took home some herbs.
